Bodyboarders Aarya Tabalno, Dave Hubbard make history with World Title wins in Kaua‘i
Tabalno has been crowned as the 2023 International Bodyboarding Corporation Pro Junior Women’s World Champion. She is the first female from Hawai’i to claim this title. Hubbard brought home his tenth world title, specifically in the Drop Knee Division. He now holds the most World Titles in bodyboarding.

Wailuā Golf Course to limit play, as state sprays trees for coconut rhinoceros beetle
Hawai‘i Department of Agriculture and University of Hawai‘i researchers will conduct the drone-based treatment of the palm trees, in an effort to eliminate the course’s coconut rhinoceros beetle infestation. So far, 31 adult beetles have been found in traps at the golf course.

The stewards are responsible for educating visitors, enforcing safety measures, and maintaining the increasingly popular Hawai‘i Island trail. The program sees great success by increasing visitors’ awareness of the trail’s hiking conditions and the valley’s history and cultural significance. There’s also been a decrease in hiking accidents, illegal camping and parking infractions.
Reminder: Real Property Tax Relief and Exemptions deadline Oct. 2
If you are a Primary Resident of Kaua‘i and are not currently receiving a home exemption or related tax credit, you may be eligible to file a claim to reduce the real property taxes on your home. To qualify for a home exemption, you must occupy your property as your principal home for more than 270 days, file a 2022 Full Time Residency State of Hawai‘i Income Tax Return (form N-11), provide a Hawai‘i Driver’s License or State ID, and do not claim primary residency elsewhere.
