Vaccine Eligibility Expands Monday

Kaua‘i residents in phase 1c are now eligible for COVID-19 vaccination registration.

Members of this group include kūpuna aged 65 or older, those with certain high-risk medical conditions, and essential workers. High-risk medical conditions are limited at this time to individuals on dialysis, people with severe respiratory disease who are on oxygen, and those undergoing chemotherapy or other infusion therapy.

Kūpuna and high-risk residents can make an appointment at a hospital clinic or Longs in Kapa‘a. Availability may be limited. Keep checking if appointments are full.

Kūpuna who are established patients at Ho‘ola Lahui can also schedule vaccine appointments at their locations.

To sign up at Longs in Kapa‘a, visit cvs.com/immunizations/covid-19-vaccine and proceed as follows:

Scroll down and select “Hawaii,” then “Schedule an appointment now.” Answer the pre-screening questions and click “Continue.” Select “I need to start vaccination” (unless you already received a first dose). Select “Hawaii” from the menu. Enter your age, then click “In a priority group” and select “Age 65 and over.” Read and check the affirmation box, then click “Confirm eligibility.” Click “schedule dose” then enter your Kaua‘i zip code. Schedule your appointments.

Telephone assistance is also available from CVS at 1-800-746-7287, option 1.

If you need assistance with the online appointment systems, see if a friend or family member can help you. If not, call the Agency on Elderly Affairs at (808) 241-4470, and they can help you schedule your appointment on the websites. However, they cannot help if no appointments are available or you are not yet eligible.

The transition to phase 1c expands eligibility to essential workers not previously eligible (e.g., food service, law, media, construction, real estate, communications, information technology, finance, transportation/logistics, and visitor industry workers). Eligible essential workers are being vaccinated by appointment only at a Point of Distribution operated by the Kaua‘i District Health Office at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall. Essential workers may schedule appointments for the two-dose Moderna vaccine, available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays, or the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, available Monday, March 15 and Monday, March 22 with additional dates to be added when supplies allow.
