2 New COVID-19 Cases Reported on the Garden Island

The Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office reported two new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, Jan. 6.

One of today’s cases is an adult female resident whose source of infection is community-acquired. The other case is an adult male visitor whose source of infection is travel-related. All active cases are in isolation, and one case remains hospitalized on O‘ahu.

Close contacts are being identified, directed to quarantine, and offered testing.

Today’s cases bring the number of active cases to 15, with 182 cumulative cases. Kaua‘i’s cumulative case count includes 155 confirmed locally, one probable, and 26 positive cases diagnosed elsewhere, as they received their pre-travel test results after arriving on island.
