The Kaua‘i District Health Office reported two new positive cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the total number of on-island active cases to nine.

One case is a female resident who recently returned home from mainland travel. The second case is a male visitor from the mainland. Both of these travelers participated in the state’s pre-travel testing program but did not receive their positive test results until after arriving on island.

These positive cases will not be reflected in Kaua‘i’s cumulative case count as cases are tallied in the county of origin.

As of Thursday, four of the island’s nine active cases will be reflected elsewhere as they participated in the state’s pre-travel program but received their positive test result after arrival.

All active cases are in isolation and two are hospitalized. The Department of Health continues its contact tracing investigation and all confirmed close contacts are in quarantine.
