Lack of waves forces delay in Olympic Games surfing semi-finals
The semi-finals and finals in men’s and women’s surfing in the 2024 Olympic Games were called off on Saturday due to the lack of wave conditions.
The competition, taking place in Teahupo’o, Tahiti, is expected to resume on Monday, according to the International Surfing Association.
Kaua‘i’s Tatiana Weston-Webb, representing her birth country Brazil, has cleared the surfing quarter-finals and has advanced to the medal rounds. In the semi-finals, she will go up against Brisa Hennessy of Costa Rica.
Also competing in the semi-finals are USA’s Caroline Marks and Johanne Defay of France.
The defending gold medalist Carissa Moore of Team USA and Hawai‘i, has already been eliminated.
