Poʻipū resort Kukuiʻula on Kaua‘i names new sous chef, philanthropy manager

Kukui‘ula – a residential and resort community in Po‘ipū on the South Shore of Kaua‘i – has promoted Shelly Gerardo and Allan Duldulao to the roles of philanthropic giving & office manager and sous chef.

Gerardo has spent 19 years at Kukui‘ula. In her position, Gerardo manages Kukuiʻula’s philanthropic initiatives, including launching The Club at Kukuiʻula Community Benefit Fund and the employee Kōkua Fund and running the Kukuiʻula Development Charitable Program.

Gerardo also serves on the board of directors for Kaua‘i United Way and leads volunteer efforts to support events like the Hawaiʻi Lodging and Tourism Association’s Kauaʻi Charity Walk and the Kōloa Plantation Days Parade. Prior to joining Kukuiʻula, Gerardo worked for the Sheraton Kaua‘i Resort and Kawailoa Development.

Duldulao joined Kukui‘ula in 2016 as a cook, and upon honing his culinary skills moved up the ranks before his latest promotion to sous chef.

As sous chef, Duldulao collaborates with Kukuiʻula’s executive chef on menu planning, event and banquet order execution and oversees day-to-day operations, including staff, inventory and supply management of food and beverage operations.

Duldulao is a graduate of Kauaʻi Community College’s culinary program. Prior to joining Kukui‘ula, Duldualo worked at Brennecke’s Beach Broiler, Pomodoro Italian Restaurant and ran Kauaʻi Street Meats, a small local business serving huli huli chicken and grilled exotic meats.

Outside of the kitchen, Duldulao is the boys’ varsity soccer head coach for Kauaʻi High School and a championship-winning director of coaching for Keahi Soccer Club.
