Flood advisory issued for north, windward Kaua’i
A flood advisory is in effect until 4:15 p.m. today for portions of Kauaʻi.
Just after 1 p.m., National Weather Service radar indicated heavy rain over north and windward Kauaʻi. The heaviest rain was over Kapahi, falling at just more than 2 inches per hour. These showers are slowly moving north, and additional showers are expected through the afternoon.
Some locations that will experience flooding include Kapaʻa, Princeville, Kīlauea, Hanalei, North Fork Wailua Trails, Wainiha, Alakaʻi Swamp Trails, Haʻena, Wailua Homesteads, Nā Pali State Park, Kōkeʻe State Park, Moloaʻa, Wailua, Anahola, Kalihiwai, Wailua River State Park, Waimea Canyon State Park and Keālia.
Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas and in streams can be expected.
The public is advised to stay away from streams and other low-lying areas prone to flooding.
