Kaua‘i man accused of attempted murder out on bail

Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this week that left a Līhu‘e man seriously injured.

On April 8, at approximately midnight, a 28-year-old man suffered a gunshot injury in Hanamā‘ulu. The man was medevaced to the Queen’s Medical Center on O‘ahu in serious condition. He was treated and subsequently released on Wednesday.

Kaua‘i police collaborated with the U.S. Marshal Service to apprehend the suspect, later identified as 53-year-old Duane Dawson of Hanamā‘ulu. Dawson was taken into custody on the strength of a warrant of arrest on Thursday for a charge of second-degree attempted murder.

Dawson was released after posting the $200,000 bail today.
