Emergency work planned on Kaumuali‘i Highway in Lāwaʻi
Kauaʻi motorists are advised that a lane shift is planned for a portion of Kaumuali‘i Highway (Highway 50) in Lāwaʻi.
The lane shift begins at 8:30 a.m. today at the intersection of Kua and Kōloa roads. The shift is necessary because of emergency work needed to replace a damaged guardrail.
Intermittent closures of the adjacent lane can be expected while the contractor gets in position for the work and to inspect the completed repairs.
The lane shift will remain in place until the guardrail work is completed.
The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation will update the public via Facebook and X, formerly Twitter, when the contractor is off the road.
