For Women’s History Month, the Kaua‘i County Committee on the Status of Women is encouraging the community to explore and support local women-owned businesses throughout March.

In collaboration with the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i, the committee invites everyone to share their favorite women-owned businesses by posting on social media pages and tagging the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i. The goal is to raise awareness about the impactful role of female entrepreneurs in shaping the local economy.

“We believe in empowering women and recognizing their achievements, not just during Women’s History Month, but daily. By consciously choosing to support women-owned businesses, we can positively impact our community and foster an environment that encourages the success of female entrepreneurs,” said Lori Barrett, a member of the Committee on the Status of Women.

The Committee on the Status of Women recommends exploring local businesses and websites to participate actively in the celebration. By supporting these ventures, individuals contribute to the growth and success of women-owned businesses while celebrating Women’s History Month meaningfully.

In addition to supporting women-owned businesses, the committee encourages the community to highlight inspirational women within their circles. While recognizing the achievements of well-known female figures is essential, the Committee on the Status of Women emphasizes acknowledging the women who have personally supported, empowered and encouraged us.

Also throughout the month, the committee invites everyone to take a moment to showcase the history-making women in their lives, whether they are caregivers, siblings, teachers, mentors, friends, business owners, or partners. Share tributes on personal social media pages and tag the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i on Facebook and Instagram to join the collective celebration and acknowledgment of the women on Kaua‘i who have made historical contributions or continue to make a difference today.

By actively engaging in these initiatives, the committee hopes to create a ripple effect that supports women-owned businesses and fosters a community that values and uplifts the achievements of women from all walks of life.
