7:01 a.m. Feb. 8 update: The high surf advisory for east-facing shores is canceled.

Original post: A high surf advisory has been extended once again for Kaua‘i’s east-facing shores.

Initially issued on Monday, the National Weather Service in Honolulu reports large easterly wind waves and a diminishing northeast (040 deg) swell will continue to produce advisory-level surf along east-facing shores tonight.

However, surf is expected to fall below advisory levels by early Thursday.

According to the advisory, surf is 7 to 10 feet high. Beachgoers should expect strong breaking waves and currents, which will make swimming dangerous.
