Līhu‘e man arrested for assault following incident in Hōʻike Kaua‘i Community Television parking lot

A Līhu‘e man has been arrested in connection with an incident that resulted in another man sustaining multiple lacerations to his leg last week in Līhu‘e.

The Kaua‘i Police Department says 33-year-old Joshua Thomas was arrested for second-degree assault. He remains in custody at the police cellblock in Līhu‘e. His bail is set at $5,000.

At about 10 a.m. Feb. 2, police responded to an altercation in the parking lot at Hōʻike Kaua‘i Community Television. A 59-year-old Līhu‘e man approached Thomas and informed him that he was not allowed to be on the commercial property.

According to statements obtained at the scene, an argument ensued between the two, resulting in the 59-year-old receiving multiple lacerations to his leg.

The victim was treated at the scene by medics for non-life threatening injuries and later taken to the Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Līhu‘e for further treatment before being released.

The case remains under investigation.
