Former Hawai‘i U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard will host a show on X, formerly Twitter, according to a Tuesday announcement by the social media platform.

“Freedom of speech is a fundamental right in America,” said Gabbard in an X post Tuesday. “Sadly we live in a time where debate, dialogue and dissent can be cause for cancellation and censorship by those in power. To defend free speech, we must use it. I’m announcing a new partnership today with X where under @elonmusk leadership, free speech is not only protected, it is celebrated.”

Gabbard, who left the Democratic Party in 2022, said her show will offer stories and news about “the truth of what’s happening in our country and world but that those in power don’t what you hear.”

She added it also will include a series of short films that share the stories of those most impacted, “but whose voices are silenced.”

“The Army Reserve officer and veteran, 4-term congresswoman and 2020 presidential candidate will be sharing her unique POV through an exclusive series of documentary style videos and broader content on X,” said X Business in a post Tuesday morning. “X is a free speech platform for all voices — thank you for sharing yours, Tulsi. E komo mai!”

Gabbard’s is one of three new shows coming to the platform, including others hosted by former CNN anchor Don Lemon and sports radio commentator Jim Rome.

The move comes after former Fox News host Tucker Carlson launched a new show in June on the platform in a similar partnership.

An X Business blog post Tuesday said 2024 will be transformational for the social media platform owned by SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk.

“In 2023, we laid the groundwork for the global town square and in 2024, that vision will come alive,” said the post, adding it will be rolling out products and services it says will reshape how people connect, communicate and transact. “X is not just another app — it’s becoming the everything app, seamlessly uniting experiences into one interface, for everyone.”
