Update: High surf advisory extended for north and west shorelines of Ni‘ihau and Kaua‘i
4:08 p.m. update Jan. 9: The high surf advisory is now in effect until 6 a.m. on Thursday for Ni‘ihau and Kaua‘i.
Surf up to 18 to 22 feet is expected along north-facing shores and 12 to 16 feet along west-facing shores.

As a safety precaution, officials have posted warning signs and are monitoring the area.
A high surf advisory is in effect through 6 a.m. Wednesday for north- and west-facing shores of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau, according to the National Weather Service. Surf up to 18 to 22 feet along north-facing shores are forecasted and up to 12 to 16 feet along west-facing shores.
