Update: Inmate erroneously released from Kaua‘i Correctional Center turns himself in
12:52 p.m. Dec. 20 update: Pre-trial detainee Jesse Rivera turned himself in to authorities at the main security checkpoint at the Kaua‘i Judiciary building at about 10 a.m. today after being informed of his mistaken release.
He was processed for Discharge of Sureties relating to the felony unauthorized entry into a dwelling case and $10,000 bail bond forfeiture warrant.
Rivera, 44, was being held at the Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center on the bail bond forfeiture warrant after he missed a previous court date. He appeared at a hearing on the warrant at Kaua‘i Circuit Court Tuesday morning prior to his inadvertent release at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Sheriff’s deputies discovered the erroneous release at 1:05 p.m. Deputies went to his known address, and he was not there. Kaua‘i police were also notified.
After Rivera turned himself in today and was processed, he was released at 11:20 a.m. after posting a $10,000 bail bond. His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 23.
Original post: State Sheriff’s deputies are actively searching for 44-year-old Jesse Kaliko Rivera who was erroneously released from Kaua‘i Circuit Court Tuesday.
Rivera was in the custody of the Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center for a $10,000 bail bond forfeiture warrant after he missed a previous court date relating to a felony unauthorized entry into a dwelling charge.
He appeared in court Tuesday for a hearing on the bail bond forfeiture warrant and was inadvertently released from court at 10:15 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies discovered the erroneous release at 1:05 p.m.
Deputies went to his known address, and he was not there. Kaua‘i police have also been notified.
Sheriff’s deputies are actively searching for Rivera to return him to custody.
He is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 145 pounds with short black hair and brown eyes.
