Update: Cold front brings rain, thunderstorms across Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau

Update at 9:34 a.m. on Sunday: A cold front that brought storms to Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau is expected to last till 10:45 a.m.

At 9:19 a.m., Doppler radar was tracking heavy showers and thunderstorms along a line extending from Haena to 38 miles southwest of Barking Sands. Movement was east at 30 mph.

Wind gusts are up to 40 mph and locally heavy rainfall.

At 7:53 a.m., the Doppler radar was tracking this storm along a line extending from 34 miles northwest of Polihale to 65 miles west of Mana. Movement was east at 30 mph.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph are expected as well as locally heavy rainfall. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
