Kaua‘i firefighters extinguish 3 fires on eastside Sunday

Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters extinguished three fires on Kaua‘i’s eastside on Sunday.  

No injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged.

Shortly after 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, firefighters with the Kapa‘a fire station were dispatched to a fire at Lydgate Beach Park.

According to a preliminary report, KFD personnel arrived on the scene and discovered that a bystander had put out the fire. Evidence of a fire was located near a comfort station on a cement slab.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.

The scene was cleared at approximately 4:40 p.m.  

At approximately 6 p.m., firefighters with the Kaiakea fire station were dispatched to a trash fire at Kaiakea Point in Kapa‘a.

According to a preliminary report, KFD personnel saw the fire outside the fire station. On scene, crews discovered a 12-by-12-foot fire. Approximately 100 feet uphill from the first blaze was a 15-by-12-foot fire. Crews quickly knocked down and extinguished both fires.

The cause of the fires is under investigation.

The scene was cleared shortly before 6:30 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to the final fire near the Friendship House in Kapa‘a at approximately 6:10 p.m.

Crews with the Kapa‘a fire station arrived shortly after and discovered bystanders putting out a small brush fire. Crews assisted with the complete extinguishment of the blaze. 

The cause of the fire is undetermined.
