Kaua‘i police have identified a 66-year-old man who died Sept. 22 at Waipo‘o Falls in Kōkeʻe as Mark Debarr of California.

First responders received a report shortly after 10 a.m. Friday of a man falling off Waipo‘o Falls Trail. The hiker apparently fell off the trail and was located about 120 feet below Waipo‘o Falls.

Personnel with the Kaua‘i Police Department and Kaua‘i Fire Department, including firefighters with the Waimea fire station, Air 1, Rescue 3, and the on-duty battalion chief, assisted in recovering the Debarr.
