Kapa‘a man sentenced after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a teenager
A Kapa‘a man was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Wednesday after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a teenager in May.
Ty Tsuneo Nakamoto, 30, was taken into custody in March for the incident that occurred in December 2022 after he met a 13-year-old minor on a dating application and sexually assaulted them while at their home.
“Protecting minors is a top priority for our Office,” said Kaua‘i County Prosecuting Attorney Rebecca Like. “We know that our island is safer when individuals that prey on the vulnerability of children are incarcerated.”
Nakamoto has been in custody at the Kaua‘i Community Correctional Center since March 10, 2023, in lieu of bail.
