Update: Roads by Wailua Falls reopen after Kaua‘i police conduct search for homicide suspect

9:52 a.m. Wednesday update: Kaua‘i Police Department has reopened Ma‘alo Road by Wailua Falls and Kuamo‘o Road by the Wailua Reservoir after conducting an operation in connection with Chris Santos, a suspect in connection with a homicide.

Police have cleared the area.

Kaua‘i Police continues their search for the suspect, and thanks the community for their numerous tips relating to the suspect. 

Kaua‘i Police have received reports of different individuals providing transportation to Santos. Authorities remind the public that any person who renders assistance to the suspect is subject to prosecution for first-degree hindering prosecution, an offense punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

Rendering assistance includes providing money, transportation, weapons, disguises, or other means of avoiding discovery, apprehension, prosecution, or conviction.

The public is advised to use extreme caution and not approach this individual. Santos is 6 feet, 2 inches tall, and weighs 250 pounds. 

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Chris Santos is encouraged to contact KPD Dispatch at 808-241-1711 or the General Crimes Lieutenant at 808-241-1683.
