The benefit concert is planned for Aug. 20 at the Bishop Museum in Honolulu. Doors open at 5 p.m. for in-person attendees. The event also will be available via livestreaming and various social media accounts.

The concert is a collaboration between Kāhuli Leo Leʻa; island TV stations KGMB, KFVE, KHNL, KITV, KIKU, KHII, KHON, PBS Hawaiʻi; radio groups iHeartMedia, Salem Media Group, Summit Media and Pacific Media Group; and the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, with all partners offering their services and resources pro bono.

Portions of the event will be simulcast on all local channels throughout the evening.

“All artists, production staff and broadcast partners are coming together and pooling our donated time and resources to deliver a resounding message to the rest of the world: Maui needs our help,” said co-producer and executive director Zachary Lum. “In times of need, Hawaiʻi bands together and helps one another. We in the creative industry have a unique contribution to bring attention to the dire needs of our Maui community.”

One hundred percent of proceeds from the concert will support Maui’s severely impacted communities through donation portals including Maui United Way, Hawaiʻi Community Foundation, Hawaiʻi People’s Fund and Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement.

Event producers, musical artists, celebrities and community leaders aim to garner the attention and financial support of local, national and international audiences.

“Music has a wonderful way of opening people’s hearts and reminding us of our connections to one another,” said co-producer and executive producer of Ponoʻī Productions Keʻala Lucero. “We hope the music shared by some of Hawaiʻi’s leading talents will have that kind of effect.”

Maui Ola is made possible by the contributions and collaborations of countless community organizations focused on providing relief to Maui residents impacted by recent wildfires.
