‘Kaukau 4 Keiki’ program provides meal boxes for low-income keiki this summer
Mālama Kauaʻi’s Kaukau 4 Keiki program will distribute meal boxes to low-income children this summer to help prevent the “summer hunger gap.”
The program will partner with dozens of organizations across the island to ensure that as many children as possible have access to healthy and nutritious meals.
According to the organizationʻs news release, the Kaukau 4 Keiki program is one of its most impactful and far-reaching initiatives.
Volunteers and sites are needed to ensure the success of the program. Those interested in participating can sign up to volunteer on Mondays as box packers or pickup site hosts.
Food producers are needed to supply bananas, papayas and veggie bags to fill boxes.
While the formal bid process has closed, interested parties can contact marina@malamakauai.org or call 808-828-0685 x16 to provide these items and discuss pricing.
Donations to support the program can be made online or by mailing a check with “Kaukau 4 Keiki” in the memo to: Mālama Kaua’ī, 3-3204 Kūhiō Hwy, Ste. 102, Līhuʻe, HI 96766.
The organization reports that 90% of boxes are already claimed for this summer, so those in need of food support for their children should not delay to apply.
