A recount of votes cast for the Kaua‘i County Council race was conducted on Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, according to state statutes. The results of the recount did not alter the makeup of the top 14 candidates who will appear on the ballot of the 2022 General Election.

The recount was required because the 133 votes initially separating the candidate receiving the 14th most votes and the candidate receiving the 15th most votes for County Council was less than 215 votes or one-quarter of one percent (0.25%) of the total votes cast for the County Council contest.

The recount trigger was calculated as follows:
·Total Votes Cast = 85,840
·Recount Trigger = 85,840 x 0.0025 = 215 votes

Results of the recount are available on the State Office of Elections webpage at https://elections.hawaii.gov/.
