The schedule for the free COVID-19 mobile testing van on Kaua‘i is changing.

The county and the Kaua‘i District Health Office announced that starting Monday, June 27, the van will shift to a Monday through Friday schedule. The mobile testing van will be available from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Mondays at Hanalei Neighborhood Center.
  • Tuesdays at Kapa‘a Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex.
  • Wednesdays at Kekaha Neighborhood Center.
  • Thursdays at Kīlauea Neighborhood Center.
  • Fridays at Kalāheo Neighborhood Center.

The van will no longer be available on weekends beginning this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, June 25-26.

The shift to a weekday schedule was made to ensure adequate staffing coverage.

“Due to our high case count, the (U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) recently designated Kaua‘i a high transmission county,” Dr. Janet Berreman, Kaua‘i District health officer, said June 14 in a press release. “In addition, Kaua‘i has recently experienced four COVID fatalities in the past month. I strongly encourage all residents and visitors to take precautions to protect yourself and others. Wear a mask indoors and in crowded outdoor settings, stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, get tested if you have symptoms or have been in close contact with a positive case and stay home if you are sick. This layered approach, using multiple precautions, can slow the spread of COVID in our community.”

The county’s free COVID testing center at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall will remain open from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Testing performed at the convention hall and through the mobile testing van is via a rapid test; same-day results are sent via email.

Testing options also are still available on weekends around the island, including at urgent care clinics, Longs Kapa‘a, and the Po‘ipū Mobile MD Clinic.
