Hawaiʻi Surpasses 4K Hospitalizations After Reporting Deadliest Day of Pandemic

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health reported 569 new COVID-19 cases Saturday, bringing the statewide total to 75,006.

Eight new COVID-related deaths were also reported Saturday, following 15 dead on Friday, the deadliest day of the pandemic to date.

A total of 46 new infections were identified on Kaua´i Saturday.

The state’s two-week average is now 526 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 6.1%. A map documenting new cases by district across all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.

The island-by-island case count is as follows:

O‘ahu: 52,349
Hawai‘i: 9,375
Maui: 8,676
Kaua‘i: 1,952
Moloka‘i: 196
Lana‘i: 139
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 2,319

A total of 4,001 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 702 have died.

To date, a total of 1,955,525 doses of vaccine have been administered statewide, with 66.1% of the population fully vaccinated and 74.6% who have received at least one dose.
