The COVID-19 Delta variant continues to spread on Kaua‘i at an alarming rate, a Kaua‘i District Health Office official reported in a county update Thursday, Aug. 12.

KDHO Public Preparedness Planner Lauren Guest said most of the cases are among residents.

Guest said health officials are investigating three active clusters. The first cluster is at KCCC where 33 inmates have tested positive for coronavirus. An educational setting yielded 22 confirmed cases and the third cluster was at a restaurant where 12 cases were confirmed.
