Kapa‘a man suffers injuries after being struck by dump truck
A Kapa‘a man suffered leg injuries after being struck by a dump truck while riding a moped.
The collision occurred on Aug. 2 at approximately 11 a.m. in Kapa‘a. According to Kaua‘i Police Department, a Kalāheo man was reversing a dump truck on Nalu Road when the 62-year-old moped operator was struck.
The man was taken to Wilcox Medical Center for injuries suffered in the collision. The dump truck driver didn’t report injuries.
Following the crash, Nalu Road was limited to alternating traffic for approximately one hour as officers with KPD’s Traffic Safety Section conducted an on-scene investigation.
Speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.
