No injuries were reported following a structure fire in Kapa‘a that displaced five people and a pet.

Kaua‘i firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire on Kahuna Road in Kapa‘a on Tuesday at approximately 4:15 p.m. Personnel with the Kapa‘a and the Kaiakea fire stations, the Fire Prevention Bureau, Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative, the Department of Public Works and the Kaua‘i Police Department responded to the incident.

When crews arrived on scene shortly before 4:20 p.m., firefighters discovered a one-story structure fully engulfed in flames. While crews battled the blaze, electrical and gas utilities were shut off.

Firefighters cleared the scene shortly after 9:35 p.m.

Fire Prevention Bureau investigators took over the scene. The cause of the blaze is undetermined.

Damages to the structure and contents are estimated at $750,000.
