Decomposing body found near Nāwiliwili Harbor
County officials have reported that a body was found Thursday morning near Nāwiliwili Harbor in Lihuʻe, and the Kauaʻi Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying it.
“On Thursday, Jul. 18, officers responded to a report of human remains discovered in an area known as Carter’s Point near Nāwiliwili Harbor,” says the July 19 KPD press release.
“Personnel from the Kauaʻi Fire Department aided in retrieving the body, which was subsequently transported to the Wilcox Medical Center.”
The body is in an advanced stage of decomposition, making it more challenging to identify.
“An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death. Foul play is not suspected at this time,” the statement says.
