Acting Gov. Luke issues Emergency Proclamation to aid with Maui Crater Road Fire

Lt. Gov. Sylvia Luke, serving as Acting Governor, signed an Emergency Proclamation (EP) on Wednesday evening in response to the ongoing Crater Road Fire in Upcountry, Maui which began on July 10, 2024, and has since burned an estimated 410 acres. Updates on the wildfire are posted HERE.

This 13th proclamation relating to wildfires is a supplement to the Emergency Proclamation issued on Aug. 9, 2023 relating to the Lahaina, Kula, and Kohala wildfires.

This proclamation authorizes the Hawai‘i Emergency Management Agency to take appropriate action to assist in emergency response efforts to ensure continued and effective statewide response.

It also authorizes the Adjutant General to activate the Hawai‘i National Guard, as deemed necessary, to aid in protecting public health and safety, property, and natural resources.

The proclamation suspends laws that might impede or delay the execution of emergency functions.

Mayor Bissen signs emergency proclamation in response to Crater Road Fire

Mayor Richard Bissen signed an Emergency Proclamation (EP) at 7:20 a.m. on Thursday, July 11 in response to the ongoing Crater Road Fire in Upcountry, Maui, which began July 10, and has since burned hundreds of acres.

This 10th emergency proclamation relating to wildfires is a supplement to the Emergency Proclamation issued on June 10, 2024, relating to Kula Crater Fire.

This proclamation authorizes the County to access federal assistance programs for individuals and public infrastructure, including funds for emergency response efforts to ensure continued and effective countywide response.

The proclamation suspends laws that might impede or delay the execution of emergency functions.
