High surf advisory issued for east-facing shores of Kaua‘i
A high surf advisory was issued for east-facing shores of the Hawaiian Islands till 6 p.m. Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Honolulu, strong trade winds near and upstream of the islands will generate rough and choppy surf along east-facing shores for the next couple of days.
Surf will build to 8 to 12 feet. Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous.
Beachgoers are advised to heed advice from ocean safety officials. When in doubt, don’t go out. Know your limits and seek ocean recreation areas best suited for your abilities.
