6:52 a.m. Feb. 27 update: A high surf advisory for east-facing shores of the Garden Isle has been extended till 6 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Honolulu, surf will remain rough due to a combination of a medium-period northeast (030 to 060 degrees) swell and locally generated wind waves. Although surf heights may dip below the advisory threshold by Wednesday, expect the rough conditions to persist through the week due to strong trade winds continuing.

Surf is expected to be 8 to 12 feet.

The strong breaking waves and currents will make swimming dangerous.
