Macy’s Department Store burglarized; over $20,000 in jewelry stolen

The Kaua‘i Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at Macy’s Department Store early Monday morning.

On Jan. 22 at approximately 3:50 a.m., officers were dispatched for a glass break alarm at Macy’s Department Store in Kukui Grove Shopping Center.

Upon arrival, officers found that the west entrance doors and multiple jewelry display cases were shattered. No injuries were reported.

According to preliminary reports, over approximately $20,000 of jewelry was reported as stolen.

Last week, multiple news outlets reported the Kaua‘i Macy’s will close in the coming months. About 40 employees are affected by the store’s closure, according to Island News.

KPD detectives are actively investigating this case.
