Torrential rain and possible localized flooding expected on portions of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau

Gusty showers from the west are moving over Kaua‘i and a portion of Ni‘ihau from the west bring torrential rainfall potentially localized flooding, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu.

At 2:45 a.m., Doppler radar was tracking a line of heavy showers and gusty winds about 18 miles west of Barking Sands, or 43 miles west of Līhu‘e, moving east near 25 mph.

Wind gusts are expected to reach 40 mph. These winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.
