UPDATE: high surf advisory extended through Saturday morning
Nov. 17 update: The high surf advisory has been extended to 6 a.m. Saturday. Large and rough surf associated with strong trades and a northeast swell will maintain hazardous conditions along east facing shores through tonight.
Original post: The National Weather Advisory in Honolulu extended the high surf advisory to 6 p.m. Thursday for east-facing shores on Kaua‘i.
Surf is expected to be 8 to 12 feet. Officials warn of strong breaking waves and strong currents that will make swimming dangerous.
Beachgoers are advised to heed advice from ocean safety officials before going out into the water.
