Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce donates to Pacific Missile Range Facility for Navy Birthday Ball
The Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce recently honored the service and sacrifice of members of the U.S. military with a $17,600 donation to the Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kaua‘i for its Navy Birthday Ball.
The donation makes the ball free for all junior sailors and lowers the cost for the other participants.
“We recognize and appreciate the sacrifices made by the uniformed men and women of PMRF who diligently serve our country,” said Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Mark Perriello. “It is our privilege and honor to contribute to an event as meaningful as the Navy Ball, ensuring that they can attend without any financial burden.”
The donation was presented to the Pacific Missile Range Facility Military Service Organization during an Oct. 11 presentation at Kaua‘i Coffee in Kalāheo, one of the many sponsors of the ball. Chamber members, sailors from the missile range facility and other ball sponsors gathered as an oversized check was given to Pacific Missile Range Facility Commanding Officer Navy Capt. Brett Stevenson.
Stevenson thanked Perriello, saying the missile range facility is proud to be a part of the Kaua‘i ‘ohana.
“We extend our deepest gratitude to the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce for this extraordinary donation in support of this event and our sailors who are taking part in the [Pacific Missile Range Facility] Navy Birthday Ball,” he said. “We are incredibly grateful to serve on Kaua‘i and be partners in this wonderful ‘ohana on our island home.”
The 248th Navy Birthday Ball is today, on the U.S. Navy’s birthday, at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa in Poʻipū. The event brings together sailors, civilians and families and members of the community.
“I want to extend our warmest wishes to the men and women of [Pacific Missile Range Facility] as they enjoy the Navy Ball, knowing that their community stands beside them,” Perriello said. “May this event be a symbol of our appreciation and a testament to the enduring bond between our chamber and the Pacific Missile Range Facility.”
Stevenson said the support from the Chamber and the community makes the event possible.
“We are so excited for this special night celebrating the United States Navy, together with our Kaua‘i ‘ohana,” he said.
