Olohena Road lane closures start Oct. 16, expected to last until mid-November
Motorists in Kaua’i should expect some travel delays next week when single-lane road closures begin on Olohena Road.
The Department of Public Works and Earthworks Pacific said portions of Olohena Road will be closed from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. starting Oct. 16 until Nov. 17 during the weekdays for roadway reconstruction and bridge work.
Bridge work will occur between Kamalu Road and Waipouli Rd.
Motorists are urged to use alternate routes.
Construction work will be minimized during student pick-up and drop-off times to help accommodate both Kapa‘a High School and the elementary schools.
Motorists should exercise caution and drive slowly when commuting through the work area which is narrow and near the homes of residents. The speed limit is 25 mph for the entire length of Olohena Road.
