Firefighters extinguish brush fires in Anahola on Friday

Kaua’i County firefighters extinguished two brush fires late Friday evening in Anahola.

No injuries were reported, and no structures were threatened.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a brush fire reported on the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands property in Anahola. 

Firefighters with the Kaiākea and Kapa‘a fire stations responded to the incident.

Upon arrival, bystanders directed firefighters to the scene where they found an area of brush approximately 30 feet by 50 feet on fire. After extinguishing the fire, personnel continued searching for additional fires and found another area, approximately 50 feet by 60 feet of brush on fire.

Firefighters extinguished all flames and continued to conduct a perimeter check. No other fires were found, and crews cleared the scene shortly after 8:30 p.m.

No road closures were reported during the response.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
