Kauaʻi Fire Department to host Fire Prevention Week kick-off event
The Kaua‘i Fire Department, in partnership with the Kaua‘i Philippine Cultural Center, invites the community to the inaugural Fire Prevention Week kick-off event on Saturday.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Philippine Cultural Center, located at 4475f Nuhou St. in Līhuʻe.
“We view this event as a great opportunity to bring our partners and community together,” said Kaua‘i Fire Prevention Capt. Justin Kaeo Kinoshita. “In addition to our community risk reduction programs, we want to introduce our public education curriculum to families to encourage a two-way conversation at home.”
This event is free and will include informational booths by the Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency, Kaua‘i Police Department, and Ocean Safety Bureau. In addition, there will be fire extinguisher training, hands-on CPR demonstrations, personal wildland fire education, and information on the Fall Prevention program for kūpuna.
The kick-off to this family-friendly event will have free rides by Fun and Kwazy, fire trucks, picture taking with Sparky, games, prizes, pizza, food trucks and more.
