Oct. 4 update: The Hawai‘i State Department of Health has canceled the notification for Anini Beach Park Pavilion, Kaua‘i. Water sample retesting results show that enterococci levels no longer exceed the threshold level.

Original post: The Hawai‘i State Department of Health is retesting Anini Beach Park Pavilion on Kaua‘i after issuing a high bacteria count notification.

Levels of 137 per 100 mL were detected during routine beach monitoring.

The Department of Health is uncertain about the representativeness of the first sample. This beach has historically met the acceptable beach threshold level, and there is no known source of fecal contamination.
