Kaua‘i County Agency on Elderly Affairs symposium to focus on fraud and scam prevention
Kaua‘i County will host its 5th annual Agency on Elderly Affairs symposium on Oct. 4 at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall in Līhu‘e.
The symposium will focus on fraud and scam prevention, with Kupuna Alert Partners as the event’s keynote presenters. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Resource tables with providers within the community will be open for viewing prior to and following the one-hour presentation by Kupuna Alert Partners, which begins promptly at 10 a.m.
Although walk-in participants will be accepted, to ensure there are enough program materials and light refreshments, pre-registration is recommended by calling AEA’s office at 808-241-4470 or emailing elderlyaffairs@kauai.gov.
The Kupuna Alert Partners is a partnership between the following agencies:
- Department of the Attorney General, Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance Division, Community & Crime Prevention Branch
- Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Business Licensing Division, Office of the Securities Commissioner, Investor Education Program
- Department of Health, Executive Office on Aging, Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP Hawai‘i)
- Department of Public Safety, Narcotics Enforcement Division
This multi-agency partnership will provide information on Medicare- and securities fraud prevention and prescription drug misuse. It will also include identity theft scams and how you can prevent yourself from becoming a victim.
