Thanks to the generosity of the Maui community, including a sizable donation of toys from the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of Maui, Maui Health was able to deliver several hundred toys in hopes of providing a little bit of joy to keiki and their families on the west side of the island during this challenging time.

The toy drive was initially set up by Maui Health’s Medical Staff Services team to collect toys for Maui Health employees and providers impacted by the fires. The event was so successful that hundreds of toys could be shared with other children and families in need at hotel shelters in Kā‘anapali. Toys were also distributed to Napili Park for parents and children to pick up when utilizing the disaster resources available at the park.

Maui Health is also working with a generous donor from Oahu who will donate 50 ukulele to children on Maui who lost their belongings in the fires. If your child lost their ukulele or other musical instrument in the fires, please contact Tina Chauvin at tina.x.chauvin@kp.org by Aug. 30.
