Lawai International Center offering rare tea ceremony
All are welcome to experience a day in the ancient tradition of Japanese tea ceremony presented by the Urasenke Kaua’i Kyoukai tea association at the Lawai International Center on Kaua‘i.
This rare opportunity is being held in the Hall of Compassion, a hand-carved structure true to 13th-century architecture built with the hands and hearts of masters from Asia and volunteers from Kaua’i.
The ceremonies will be held May 27 at 10:30 a.m., 12 noon and 1:30 p.m.
As the tea ceremony members mature with each season, this might be their last year to offer the experience.
Due to the limit of 25 seats per session, reservations are required. There is a suggested minimum donation of $40.
