U.S. senator meeting Kaua‘i veterans and business owners Wednesday

Democratic U.S. Sen. Mazie K. Hirono is visiting Kaua‘i this week to meet with local veterans and small businesses.

Senator Hirono, a member of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, will be on Kaua‘i on Wednesday, April 5, to meet with veterans and visit local businesses that have received federal assistance.

In addition to hearing from Kaua‘i veterans about their priorities and concerns, Sen. Hirono will also meet with business owners who have received support through Hawaiʻi Small Business Development Center, which receives federal funding from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Small Business Development Center Program.

She will also discuss federal funding these businesses received through the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program to cover payroll costs and related expenses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sen. Hirono will visit the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Līhu‘e late Wednesday morning before visiting the Kaua‘i Kookie Marketplace, Bakery and Café in Kalaheo and the Kaua‘i Sweet Shoppe in Līhu‘e.
