Read Across American celebration and giveaway at Kukui Grove in Līhuʻe
A Read Across American celebration and giveaway will be held on March 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Center Stage of Kukui Grove in Līhuʻe.
The event is sponsored by USA Federal Credit Union, Kumu’s Cupboard and Sheila Bradley Books (formerly UsBorne Books & More).
This is the largest children’s book sale fundraiser of the year, benefiting Kauaʻi teachers in the classroom through Kumu’s Cupboard.
Read Across America is an annual event celebrated on or near March 2, which is the birthday of children’s author Dr. Seuss. It is a nationwide reading celebration that was created by the National Education Association in 1997 to promote literacy and encourage a love of reading among children.
At Kaua’i’s event, there will be kids characters, reading giveaways and activities. Don’t miss special guests celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday starting at 10:30 a.m. and the Kapaʻa Middle School Choir and Ukulele Band performance at noon.
There also will be community readers and imagination activities reminding us how reading shapes us all.
Receive a ticket for a free book of your choice at the event courtesy of HawaiʻiUSA Federal Credit Union while supplies last. Pick up a spring reading challenge poster to read with your child and return to HawaiʻiUSA this season for even more free books.
