Free Social Awareness Film Festival opens Thursday in Kīlauea
Anaina Hou Community Park in Kīlauea on the North Shore of Kaua‘i is gearing up for its fourth annual Social Awareness Film Festival – and this year, showings are free.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, the first day of the two-week festival.
This year’s theme is “Mother Earth: Immense, Powerful, Life-Giving, Endangered.”
“Without Earth, humans would not exist, however, we can’t seem to stop deteriorating the very thing that gives us life,” Anaina Hou said. “Our SAFF films this year explore the different ways humans are grappling with climate change, how people interact with the natural world, and how we can help the planet.”
