Free COVID-19 tests available at Kauaʻi County neighborhood centers Oct. 19-21
The County of Kaua’i will distribute free COVID-19 home test kits at County neighborhood centers from Oct. 19 to Oct. 21.
Approximately 6,000 COVID-19 home test kits will be given out, with a limit of five tests per individual or household, on a first-come, first-served basis, until supplies run out.
“Home test kits are one of the many tools at our disposal to reduce the risk of spreading COVID,” Kauaʻi County Mayor Derek S. K. Kawakami said in a press release.
The test distribution is in partnership with the Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office.
The test distribution schedule:
Wednesday, Oct. 19
- Hanalei Neighborhood Center – 9 a.m. to noon
- Kīlauea Neighborhood Center – 1 to 4 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 20
- Waimea Neighborhood Center – 9 a.m. to noon
- Hanapēpē Neighborhood Center – 1 to 4 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 21
- Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex – 9 a.m. to noon
- Līhu‘e Neighborhood Center – 1 to 4 p.m.
Although the expiration date of these COVID tests is listed as November 2022, the tests have received a 7-month shelf-life extension from the FDA. They are set to expire in June 2023.
