A mailing error means 2022 Election Notification postcards will be mailed again to all of the island’s registered voters.

According to a news release, the county Elections Division was notified that some Kaua‘i voters received the wrong Election Notification postcard. The error was made by Edward Enterprises, the county’s mailing vendor, and will be corrected.

“Edward Enterprises sincerely apologizes for any concern or confusion caused by our error,” said the company in a statement included in the news release. “We take full responsibility for this error and will absorb all costs to complete another countywide mailing of the 2022 Election Notification postcards. We hope this commitment to the voters of Kaua‘i will help to rebuild the trust and confidence in the elections process.”

To resolve the issue, Edward Enterprises will absorb all costs to resend the 2022 Election Notification postcard to every registered voter. No tax dollars will be used, according to the release.

The Election Notification postcards will be mailed later this week and should begin arriving early next week. Anyone receiving a postcard addressed to someone unknown or someone no longer at the address is asked to write “NOT AT THIS ADDRESS” and place the notification postcard back in the mail.

The U.S. Postal Service will return the misaddressed postcard to the Elections Division, and it will be used to update the corresponding voter’s registration record.

“The Elections Division wishes to thank the voters of Kaua‘i for their patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue,” the news release said.
