Kaua‘i District Health Office Announces Fatality, 19 New COVID Cases

The state Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office on Thursday, Feb. 24, announced one new fatality and 19 new cases of COVID-19.

The fatality was a female resident in her 50s who was hospitalized. Kaua‘i has had a total of 27 COVID fatalities to date since the pandemic began.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of this individual,” said Kaua‘i County Mayor Derek Kawakami. “We offer our deepest sympathy to her loved ones during this difficult time.”

Thursday’s new cases bring the number of active cases on the island to 67, with five hospitalized, and 11,795 cumulative cases. Kaua‘i’s cumulative case count includes 11,714 confirmed locally, eight probable and 73 positive cases diagnosed elsewhere.
