Fatality Figures Remain Grim as Double-Digit Deaths Reported Again Friday
The Hawaiʻi Department of Health reported 581 new COVID-19 cases Friday, bringing the statewide total to 74,437. Fifteen new COVID-related deaths were also reported.
The state’s two-week average is now 563 new cases daily, with a test positivity rate of 6.5%. A map documenting new cases by district across all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.
The island-by-island case count is as follows:
O‘ahu: 51,982
Hawai‘i: 9,296
Maui: 8,626
Kaua‘i: 1,906
Moloka‘i: 190
Lana‘i: 137
Pending: 0
Out-of-State: 2,300
A total of 3,981 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 694 have died.
To date, a total of 1,955,525 doses of vaccine have been administered statewide, with 66.1% of the population fully vaccinated and 74.6% who have received at least one dose.
